Baswell Grogan was born abt. 1838 in either VA., or prob. TN., d. bet 1876 and 1880 in Hill Co., Texas.
On 22 Mar 1857 he married Elizabeth Smith.
Baswell and Elizabeth Grogan had 7 known children:
1. John W. Grogan, b. 21 Jul 1859 in Calhoun Co., Alabama, d. 18 Apr 1832 in Johnson Co., Texas, m. Theodocia (unknown).
2. Robert T. Grogan, b. Dec 1863 in Alabama, d. 12 Oct 1936 in Bexar Co., Texas, m. Martha E. (unknown).
3. Joseph E. Grogan, b. abt 1864 in Alabama, d. 8 Jan 1929 in Red River Co., Texas.
4. Emma T. Grogan, b. abt 1866 in Alabama.
5. Nancy Jane Grogan, b. 14 Oct 1869 in Prairie Bluff, Wilcox Co., Alabama, d. 9 Jun 1937 in Milburn, Johnston Co., Alabama, m. Leonard Jasper Hornsby.
6. James Grogan, b. abt 1872 in TX.
7. George Grogan, b. abt 1876 in prob. Hill Co., Texas.

*1860 Federal Census: Ranges 5, 6, & 7, Calhoun Co., Alabama as "Baryallai"(?) Grogan, age 22, M., Farmer, born in VA.
*1870 Federal Census: Prairie Bluff, Wilcox Co., AL, as B. Grogan, age 32 (mistranscribed as 52), M., W., Farmer, born in TN., father of foreign birth.
*1880 Federal Census: District 71, Hill Co., Texas lists the remaining Grogan children in the household of Allen and Virginia Witty.
*Marriage record from Calhoun Co., Alabama Courthouse Records.
*Information from Death Certificate for John W. Grogan.
