I am looking for parents of Philip Groff, b. about 1835 in PA. Found in 1850 census living with George Raich, chairmaker, and family in Lebanon, Lebanon, PA. He married Maria Strom about 1854 and they had 2 children: Harriett Charlotte (Hattie) and Mary Ann (Mamie). The family proceeded west bet 1860 and 1870 in a covered wagon and according to our family tradition, the parents were killed by Native Americans. The girls were rescued and brought to Denver, where they were adopted - family lore says raised by Verne Z. Reed. Hattie is my 2nd g grandmother. Mamie married Senator Taylor and moved to Chicago. Any info would be appreciated!
