Nice to hear from you, Brittany. Your Great-Grandfather George F. Groce was born 30 November 1867 in what became Waller Co., TX. I doubt that he married Addie Gee, but they did have several children, whom you probably have already identified. What you may not know is that Addie Gee was the daughter of Amy Lushard/Lasard and a white man by the name of James B. Gee. Amy and James Gee had several other children, including Curtis, Edward, Lucy and Eva. Amy was born into slavery; she and her parents, Abraham Lusard and Kitty, were held by the slaveholder Phillip M. Cuny on his plantation in Sunnyside (Hempstead) Texas. Amy had at least one sister, Maria, who married a man named John Hogan and died on 22 Oct 1922 in Hempstead, Waller Co., Tx.
