Rod: Great story!

I, too, have the following couple in my family file:

Henry Hoots, b. 1778 in Surry [Yadkin] Co., NC, d. ????
m. 13 Jun 1803 in Surry [Yadkin ?] Co., NC
Ann Groce (or Anna Gross), b. 1785 in NC, d. ????

I am directly related to both Henry & Ann. Henry Hoots is my 4g-granduncle, and Ann (Groce) Hoots is my first cousin, five times removed. I have no information on their issue, if any.

Henry's parents, Jacob Hoots, Sr., and Margaret (Unknown) Hoots are one of my 5g-grandparents. Ann's grandparents, Simon Gross, Sr., and Veronica (Mayer) Gross, also are one of my 5g-grandparents.

My sources are: World Family Tree CD-ROM, Volume 5, Pedigree #3331; and Descendants of Jacob Hoots, pp. 157-158.

May not be of direct help with your post, but at least some connection between the two of us?

Cheers. Rollie Hauser
