Spartanburg Herald Obit.,Spartanburg, S.C.
dated April 20, 1956.
Lyman- MRS. BESSIE THOMPSON GROCE, 75, widow
of J. EDGAR GROCE, member of a pioneer Spartanburg Co.
family, died in a Greenville hospital Thursday after an
illness of one year.
She was born and reared in Bamberg County, d/o of
the late BENJAMIN and REBECCA KIRKLAND THOMPSON.
MR. GROCE died eight years ago.
Surviving are; two sons, DR. JOHN E. GROCE and A.BEN
GROCE, both of Greenville; one sister, MRS. J.P. SAMMONS of
Macon, Ga. and four grandchildren.
Burial will be in Wellford Bapt. church cemetery.
Pallbearers; DR. E.B. HAMMOND, AARON GROCE, ALLEN
GRESHAM, JOHN J. JONES, J.C. GROCE and MAURICE THOMPSON.
