Hemochromatosis hereditary blood disorder

My father was sick in the 1970's the doctors did not give it specific name.He was producing too many red blood cells. Now I found a name that fits the disorder "hemochromatosis" it's hereditary about 1 in 250 people have it mostly of Norhern European ancestry.He was a Grissom from TX family came from TN in the 1860's.He died of a stroke at age 56 due to this disorder.
