C. N. "Larry" Grinnell of Trenton, NJ
Greetings,
I'm very curious what responses come back from this note. My father completed a woodworking and furniture apprenticeship with C.N. Grinnell of Trenton, NJ. His Genealogy traces back to the 1600's and some of the original collonsts of North America. I know his family was involved in Grinnell Iowa, and also Grinnell College. I know there are also some that were in the New York area.
His efforts in teaching my offered father, Stan Saperstein, the opportunity for him to evolve greatly as a craftman, which my father is now passing on to me.
I've expanded the footprint of my father's partime woodworking business to include a website (www.artisansofthevalley.com) which will soon have a Memorial page to his teacher, C. N. Grinnell.
I am looking for historical references to the 400 years of craftman behind what is now becoming my business. To my knowledge, he was the last in the line of formally trained woodworkers in the Grinnell line. I would love to find reference to pieces made by his family, or any paperwork that may improve the webpage towards his tribute. The page will soon reside on www.artisansofthevalley.com... I gathered from my father that his teacher would appriciate seeing his work carried on and also being part of a technology revolution that happened long after his passing.
I would greatly appriciate any help or pointers anyone has to offer.
Thanks,
Eric
