Hello Vincent, So nice to see the number of Grimstone researchers increasing! William Hunter Kendal GRIMSTONE (of theatrical fame - doesn't mean much to me either, unfortunately!) was born about 1843 according to the LDS 1881 Census discs. There is an entry in the GRO Birth index which I think relates to him: GRIMSTONE William, 1844 Mar qtr, Kensington, Vol 3, page 299. I do not yet know who his father was. For the 1881 Census, William and his family were living at 145 Harley Street, St Marylebone, London, Middlesex, England. His widow, Margaret, received probate of her deceased husband's effects worth £66,251 17s 9d on 27 Dec 1917. Her address is given as The Lodge, Filey, Yorkshire. ************** 'Fraid that's all I have for you just now…..though I'll keep my eyes open for anything that fits in with the information you have given me. Incidentally, the only mention I've found regarding surgeons was on a website regarding naval surgeons in service in 1805. It mentions only the one…. GRIMSTONE E. www.btinternet.com/~PBenyon/Navy_List_1805/officers/surgeons.html Good luck with your researches. If I can be of further assistance, just let me know. All the best, Louise PS If you are able to tell me the date/place of Charles Isaac Le Plastrier's marriage to Harriet Grimstone, I'd be grateful. Notify Administrator about this message?
