I am at a dead end in my inquiry about by great grandfather, John Grimmer. He arrived in the US (Philadelphia) within a few years on either side of 1890. Family tradition is that he was from Bavaria, though there is nothing to support this. He married Catherine Weick, and they had 9 children who survived to adulthood: Catherine, Genevieve, John, Margaret, Frank, Marie, Joseph, Agnes and Anna. The family relocated to Carteret NJ around 1911 (subsequently to Elizabeth, NJ). He died in 1942.
If any of this sounds familiar to anyone out there, I'd love to hear from you.
