ABOUT WILLIAM OF NORFOLK
William father of Willis, Dempsey, etc was born in about 1700 and
married in about 1725, both dates estimated after calculating the birth
years of his four sons..
ABOUT JOSEPH’S FATHER HUGH
Joseph’s father Hugh was born in 1712 or 1713, as calculated from his
first appearance as an adult, age 21, on the Norfolk tithable lists.
Hugh’s father---if he was living in 1730---was probably Joseph,
who appears to be the most likely father of Joseph among those Grimes
appearing on the tithable list.
Hugh did name his first son Joseph.
ESTIMATEDYEAROFBIRTHOFSOMEEARLYGRIMES
These estimates / calculations were made from (mostly)the tithable
lists, but also from logic deductions from wills and other available
records found in the timelines.
(The persons in the list below are only those found in records before
1750, which mainly means before 1737.)
1610-25Robert(d 1692-94)
1610-25Walter (d 1691 or later) proposed brother ofRobert
1660-80John (d 1710-1717) son of Robert
1650-60James Sr(d 1734-1736) son of Robert
Thomas(d 1753-54)
1680-90Joseph father of Hugh
1680-90Thomas who died in 1753-54
about 1700William who died 1756
1712-13Hugh, proposed son of Joseph Sr
1713-14Aaron son of James Sr
REMARKS
I think there is a VERY good possibility that there were two Roberts
... the one in early records and the other who named sons James and
John in his will.
Or, alternatively, that there was one Robert but his sons were born
earlier than speculated above, and so Joseph too might have been born,
say, ten years earlier than I speculated.

Note Concerning Charity in List Above
Charity died in 1753 or a bit earlier. It is presumed she was a
widow with some estate, else the court would have paid no attention to
her.
As to whose widow she was,the Grimes who are thought to have died in
Norfolk Co during the 20 years preceding 1753 are James Sr and probably
Joseph.
The fact that James Batcheler(sometimes seen as Batchelder)was
appointed administrator of her estate suggests that he may have been
kin, perhaps a son-in-law, and also MAY suggest that she had no living
sons, at least not in Norfolk.
IMPLIEDMARRIAGES
These are in addition to known marriages described in the list above.
Marriages between a Grimes(or Graham) and a given family are implied,
BUT NOT PROVEN, when:
...A Grimes is guardian for orphans of that family orvice versa
...Granted administration of estate of a Grimes or viceversa
...Nominated executor of will of a Grimes or vice versa
...A Grimes is security for someone of that family orvice versa
This list does not include witnesses and other relatively minor
transactions where no relationship could reasonably be implied.
Though there are exceptions, the first three of the four scenarios on
the above list are very often indicative of some relationship, probably
a bitmore so than being a security.
See the timeline at the date shown below for more details.

COMMENTS
John Grimes, almost certainly the son of Robert, died between 1710 and
1717.
There were only 3 deeds before 1730, all to Wrights.
James I-183 is the James who died in 1750.
The 3 William Grimes court suits are probably James Sr found on the
1730 and later tithe lists.

NOTE:
Some, if not all, of his children are school age or younger.
The fact that Thomas has not yet received some or all of what is due
him from his father’s eatate suggests that his father may have died
relatively recently, and this might be thought to be the Thomas who was
the eldest son of James who died in 1750, which was 19 years before
this Thomas signed his will.
