I was looking the other day at the Putnam County Grimes family (on an 1816 Clarke County GA deed, my Harbert is listed as living in Putnam County).Thomas C Grimes lived here.He in some charts is listed as being Sterling Grimes' son (Sterling did have a Thomas, but he married a Martha Lackey and ended up in Kentucky), but I think there's another father floating around somewhere...maybe Thomas Grimes, who lived in Greene County? When Thomas C died, somewhere in the 1850s, he left a huge estate with hundreds of slaves in several counties, including Miller County in south Ga.The F.A. listed as the wife of Michael Dennis, is Francis Meriwether Grimes who remarried Michael Dennis after Thomas C's death.Dennis was the executor of Thomas's estate.I sure would love to tie Thomas C into a Grimes line.
The other names on that list that I would love to find information on are David L and E.W. in Heard County.Heard is close to where my family was in Coweta, but I've never been able to tie down either David or E.W.
