Augusta Chronicle Newspaper (Grimes)

Christine, I've seen some of these Augusta Chronicle items that the Archives in Atlanta has. Most of the mentions have to do with taxes or some kind of property disputes. The William Garland Grimes entries are all advertisements for a stage coach stop/tavern/hotel that he ran.I'm really kind of confused as to where that tavern was. There's an Eagle Tavern (I hope I remember the name correctly) in Watkinsville, GA, in Oconee County...there's now a museum/welcome center set up in that building.I'm wondering if that was the establishment being advertised in the Augusta paper or if there was another one in Augusta (the ads weren't real good at using addresses).Harbert Grimes had property about 5 miles south of the Eagle Tavern in Watkinsville...I'd love to see if anybody can tie William Garland to that building.
But yes, these are great resources for the people in the newspaper.I would recommend anyone going to the Archives to check them out.Unfortunately, the archives doesn't have the last roll of film, from 1821-30.
