Ephraim Grimes was from Hubbardston,Ma.He had a son Asa Tyler b. March 20, 1792 who removed to Chelsea, Vt.Ephraim left Hubbardston in 1798 because of his mischievous ways and it was believed he went to Canada. He came back to Hubbardston, Ma. and lived in the Alms House, which is the poor farm. There is a complete chapter about Ephraim Grimes in the Hubbardston History. This may be why Samuel Nichols was his guardian. There were some Nichols family members in Hubbardston, Ma.
