Joyce,
Even though this is not really a follow-up to your last post, I am going to tack it on here, simply because yours is the most recent post. Laura Tamayo asked me to share the contents of a letter written by Thomas Yeakley. Thomas was the son of John Yeakley & Matilda Grills. Matilda - d/o Richard & Mary (Carney) Grills. Richard - s/o John & Philadelphia.
Thomas Yeakleystates in a letter, dated Mar. 1, 1913, that Elliott Grills, his mother's uncle, moved to Knoxville, Tenn. at the first settling of Tennessee. Thomas further states that another of his mother's uncles (not named) settled about Louisville, Ky. Matilda Grills father's name was Richard. Thomas also talks about Thomas Ingles who married Eleanor Grills.
The original letter may be found in the material of Merton Grills (Grills Historial, deceased), at the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis, Ind., in the State Historical Society Department. Hope this helps someone.
