If you are a descendent of the following Griggs' names who are buried at the Griggs Burial Ground and are interested in helping my husband and I clean up/restore the little family plot, please e-mail us at seelynne@hotmail.com. Samuel and Sarah Griggs are my husband's 3rd greatgrandparents. We have visited the site, contacted the owner of the property and have his permission to restore to the best of our ability, the little area. There are 10 graves, but not all have headstones. Some of the headstones are broken and some need to be "reset". We have contacted a "monument company" in regard to having one monument with all the ten names/dates listed. We have contacted a couple of Landscaping companies to cut away all the weeds and dispose of them. We are waiting for their bids. We have not picked an actual date yet, but would like to do the work there before it gets too hot. We have had several people volunteer to help in anyway they can. We have a list of those buried there - from the Hunterdon County Historical Society. They are the following: Joakem Griggs d. 18 Sep 1806 - aged 83 years and 21 days Ann (widow of Yoakem Griggs) d. 27 Oct. 1808 - aged 82 and 2 months Henry Maskel d. 20 Jan 1812 - aged 82 and 5 months Jemima, wife of Abraham Gulick d. 20 Mar 1825 - aged 59 years Abraham Gulick d. 20 July 1831 - aged 71 years 3 months and 20 days Elizabeth Moore Maskel wife of Henry Maskel d. 27 Dec 1833 Aged 76 years 2 months and 18 days Samuel Griggs d. 18 Feb 1842 - Aged 70 years Sarah Griggs widow of Samuel Griggs d. 18 Dec 1844 - Aged 66 years Elizabeth Griggs d. 25th July 1857 in her 90th year Sarah Griggs d. 22 June 1853 in her 89th year.
