Mark,
MY Dad also served in WW1 with NF. The site below helped me to find my Dad who served in the 24 th Batallion (Tyneside Irish) TINF. There was also Tyneside Scottish batallions. Many of the men in these 8 batallions were not Irish or Scottish. These Tyneside battalions were almost wiped out in one the first day of the Battle of the Somme 1 JUL 1916.
