Hello LaVerne, I was most interested to read your posting about Jane Dalrymple, the daughter of David Dalrymple and Agnes McNab, especially since we are looking at Markinch in Fife. I'm fairly sure that we would appear to be researching branches of the same families. I have been looking at Janet Mc Nab born 1st July, 1735 at Markinch in Fife to Thomas McNab an Janet Dunn who had married on 21st September, 1728 at Markinch. Janet McNab married Thomas Spittal on 27th Februsry, 1765 atarkinch and Thomas was interred 13th May, 18800 at Markinch. So, where does the interest in the Dalrymple family come from? Thoma Spittal's father was James Spittal and he married Margaret Hunter and Mary Dalrymple. I believe tht the marriage between James and Mary took place 2nd August, 1734 at Markinch. I'm currently doing quite a bit of work on my Family Tree and trying to demolish some of those damned brick walls that have persisted for so long. I'm reasonably happy with the progress that I've made, especially since I've just started working with the three volumes of the Mitchell Monumental Inscriptions books. It really is surprising just how some of the pieces are falling into place now, especially sine I'm also working with some of the legal documents from Fife. A rather intereting part of that work involves John COLLIER, Tenant in Easter Tough. the details mention the children of his deceased sister, Margaret Collier who was married to Thomas REEKIE. Fascinating stuff indeed. If you would like to contact me on tommacgregor@yahoo.com I will be more than happy to exchange information since it would be a mammoth task for me to cover all branches on my Family Tree on the forum. I look forward to hearing from you, and who knows, maybe you have already done some work on the Dalrymple and McNabs. My very best wishes, Tom. Notify Administrator about this message?
