Hi Neil
It is great to hear from you.
I have been researching the McNair/Brown/Grieve line along with my other lines for 40 years. I have a huge amount of info on the Grieve/ McNair/ Cunningham/ line and have had a few messages from your dad, but he did not tell me he had children so it is great to hear from you, and I hope we can help each other.
It is understandable if he is being careful.

I have been to Scotland 3 times tracing my family tree and have styed in Gargunnock where the McNair family have come from and been since 1692. There is a McNair House in the square in Gargunnock
I went to New Register House and gots lots of info last time, but unfortunatly only get time to process it when I return home, though I did trace a living relative on the McNair side.
Elizabeth (Lizzie) Brown who was the second wife of John Grieve was the daughter of Janet McNair of Gargunnock and Thomas Brown of Perth. Janet was sister to my great grandafther Robert McNair who traveled out to the gold rushes in Australia with his brothers James and John.
I am in contact with John's family, but have never found any trace of James.

I am currently writing a book about my Ketchen family that came from Scotland and hope to start on the McNair line next.
I have been asking him your mothers name as I have a gap on the chart.
Do you have brothers or sisters? or family.

Your father is trying to get hold of Allan Grieve for me. He is the son of Thomas or Tom Grieve who in turn is the son of Alan McGregor Grieve, your grandafthers brother. I also have lots of info on the McGregor family.

You can contact me off message board at janetmiller@slingshot.co.nz.

As you see I live in New Zealand and getting information from here is very expensive so I appreciate any help I can get.

Does your dad or you have a genealogy program on the computer? If ever you or your dad want some info I could always send a printout by snail mail. There is just too much for the internet and I am only on dial up, which is pretty slow but much cheaper here.

Your dad is a third cousin so will look up and see what relationship we are to each other.
Thank you for your message, and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Regards Janet
