Thomas Greer/Grier and his family lived in the Steele Creek area and many are buried at Steele Creek Presbyterian cemetery.

I found only one spouse of James Augustus Greer/Grier, and she is Delia Elizabeth McElroy whom he married on 27 Dec 1814 in Lincoln County, NC. Death information from "The Charlotte Journal - July 3, 1835 - Dec. 7, 1851, compiled by William R. Navey, August 1964. His 1783 obituary stated that he settled in Tennessee in 1809 and was the son of Thomas Grier, deceased. There were several James Griers, so we might be discussing two different men.

The Tunis Hood family: Its Lineages & Traditions, by D.O. Hood might be a good source for your search.
