Hi Grice families
I just thought I would tell you about my family history to see if any of you might be related.
The furthest back I have got so far is JOSEPH GRICE 1793 - 1877, he was married to a lady named SARAH DAVENPORT 1798 - ? (think it was Davenport but not 100% sure). Joseph was born in a village called Little Peover in the county of Cheshire in England. He was a Farmer of 71 acres and is shown as employing 2 men and having 2 servants. The farm address is given as 'Near Peover Mill'.
Joseph and Sarah had at least 6 children: Joseph 1825, Hannah 1833, Thomas 1835, Emma 1837, Jane 1838 - 1890 and John 1841. At some time they were all employed on the farm as they reached working age at 13. Joseph 1825 stayed working on the farm as an agricultural labourer, but Thomas 1835 eventually became an Engineer working in Saw Mills and lived in the Knutsford area of Cheshire.
If you are related to any Grices in Cheshire England drop me a line. jeangrice@yahoo.com
My best wishes to you all -
Jean Grice
England
