This was discussed here about 8 years ago, and I am back on it. I am researching Lawrence County, Mississippi Grices. Jane Grice m. Levi Smith in 1840. They are on the 1850 census. Living with them are “E” Grice, assumed to be Jane’s brother, and his wife Elizabeth and their one-year-old daughter Mary. In 1860 “E” is gone through death or divorce and Mary is also gone and Elizabeth has remarried. She is found with W. M. C. Palmer. There are three children from her marriage to “E”, Priscilla, William, and John. William eventually made it to Yell County Arkansas and he is my Great-grandfather. The census taker did us a great disservice by not even attempting to spell “E’s” name, and Elizabeth didn’t name either of their sons after him. Jane, however, did name one of her sons Everette, b. abt. 1862. Can anyone shed any light on this family? Also, is anyone aware of an active Grice DNA project? Thanks for any help you can give me.
