I have been researching this line for a while, Thomas dissappeared once he left NC for Colorado, never heard from again. His Great Grandson, Gary Tolley has been looking for info on him for years. His story is differant than yours. He was told that Thomas left in 1892 the minute the Gold was discovered in Cripple Creek, Colorado. At one time he worked here in Cranberry for the Cranberry Mining Co.
Thomas Gribble was born in 1874. He married Clarissa McCoury on 06 July 1884 in Mitchell Co. NC. She was born on May 17 1862 in NC, she died 06 Nov. 1941 in Cranberry, NC.
Thomas Gribble was a Mason at the Cranberry Lodge in Cranberry, Nc before he headed to Cripple Creek, Colorado in 1892. His occupation is listed as a Mining Engineer.
Thomas and Clarissa had a child when they were married but there were other children born outside the marriage. I'll leave that info up to you to find out about more about.
CHILDREN:
1.Monty G. Gribble b. Oct. 1881 in Avery Co. NC
Nora A. Gribble b. Apr. 1883 Avery Co. NC
Eldridge S. Gribble b. 22 Jun. 1886 in Senia, Avery Co. NC
Lisa L. Gribble b. Jan. 1889 Avery Co. NC
Hattie Mae Gribble ( my line) b. Mar 1, 1893 Shell Creek Town, Carter Co. Tn ( next to Avery Co. NC) d. 29 Dec. 1989 Avery Co. NC married Joseph George Z. Tolley 21 Jul 1910 Shell Creek Town, TN.
Nellie Jane Gribble b. 08 Aug 1896 Senia, NC
I have more on this line, but for the Tolley side. Would love to hear from you and compare notes as wondering how you know they Lived in OREGON? Had not heard that part of the story.
