Last night as I was doing a bit more looking, I was given a clue to her family (by the nice folks in Ontario). There is a document showing Jane and WIlliam being witnesses to the wedding of James Greig and Isabella McAllister. On the document it shows that James' parents are Alexander and Ann Greig (and from the 1871 Ontario census, they are not living in Ontario). Also, Isabella's parents are Hector and Maria (jusst incase someone who is researching her sees this).
I take it that James is Jane's brother, a family connection of which I could never find before.
