A Testimon from the Province - meeting at Lurgan in Lurgan in Ireland, concerning MARY GREER.
SHE was a Woman much esteemed amongst us, being of an exemplary Life and Conversation; a Pattern of Plain-ness & Humility; diligent in attending Meetings for the Worship of God, duly observing the Hour appointed. And although she was not large in Declaration, yet what she had to offer, by way of publick Testimony, was often to the comfort of the well-minded.She was also a good Example in attending our Province-meetings, whilst of Ability of Body.
She travelled through Scotland, and some parts of England; also visited some Parts of Leinster and Munster Provinces, and we believe her visit was well accepted. She was of a sweet Temper, and laboured much in her own Family in Gospel Love, that her children and Servants might be preserved out of Pride and Idleness, and live in the Fear of the Lord; so that we fully believe she was faithful in discharing her Duty, according to the Gift bestowed on her.We may truly say, she was nearly united i Spirit to us, and generally beloved.
She was a Loving Wife, a good Neighbour, being much given to Hospitality, and her Heart and House were open to entertain Friends.
Having but a few Days Sickness, she spoke little ; but some short time before her Departure, her children being about her, she desired they might live in Love one with another. And although her Removal be a Loss to her Family and Neighbours, and to the Meeing to which she belonged, yet we are fully satisfied it is her great Gain, having done her Days' Work in her Day.
She departed this Life the 9th of the Tenth Month 1742, in the Seventy-third Year of her Age, a Minister about Thirty-Seven-Years.
