Dear Martha:I am certain this is the same family, as we were just talking about Uncle Mickey and when my grandmother, Alleyne, visited him in Florida just after my grandfather died in 1956.Yes, she was born in Cochran, GA, and I visited the family plot a few years ago and saw William Thomas McVay's grave.I have been researching his Civil War activities and that is how I found your message.I was so excited that I might find out more about my family.I have been planning a trip to Boston/Plymouth to discover more about the Winslow family and their connection to possibly Edward Winslow (everything is so sketchy about our connection) and how William Thomas McVay ended up in Georgia as he was originally in Virginia. As you can tell, I have so many questions. But yes, I am certain Uncle Mickey is my relative, through my grandmother. My grandmother died in February of 1989, and my mother, Mary Alleyne Gregson Downey, died in 1997.My mother's sister, Linda, is alive, has three sons, and lives near me.I remember Uncle Bill, who was married to June and had a son named Bill. They lived in Detroit, the last I knew.As far as Uncle Mickey, I have had no idea where he might be.As I mentioned before, we were just talking about him about a month ago when I visited with my father, Larry.I even have some pictures from when my grandmother and my family visited with Uncle Mickey in Florida.I am so surprised that I happened upon your message and may now know more about my family and maybe meet my grandmother's brother -- I don't know where you are living, but we are all still in Michigan, except my brother, William Gregson Downey, who lives in Cambridge, MA.Please let me know how you wish to proceed or if you have any other questions for verification.Alleyne
