A brief biography of William A. Gregg is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 793. William A. Gregg was the son of William and Margaret (Stewart) Gregg. William A. was educated in the public schools of Michigan and attended business college. At Detroit, MI, William A. married Miss Elizabeth Anderson, born and educated at Glasgow, Scotland, daughter of James Anderson. After their marriage, they decided to try their fortune in Montana. They first located in Havre, where for several years William A. was employed by E.V. Hauser and the Havre Commercial Company. He left the company and, with partners, opened a grocery, but sold out and came to Polson in 1908, bought Gates Mercantile Company and operated for three years, then began buying and selling real estate, also handling rentals, and insurance. Gregg children: William A., Mildred L., T. Stewart, Robert Kenneth, Harold A. All attended Polson schools. William A. Gregg died 15 May 1935, age 64, Lake Co., MT I am not related.
