Delores Fay Gregg/Harbolt I have ancestry information on her mothers line that I am hoping to share with descendants. The following is how this connects. Notes: Joseph Cooper was adopted from a Dr. Davis in Quincy, Ill. (He was tarred and feathered by the Klu Klux Klan when wouldn't stop drinking and taking care of his family. Husband of Virginia (Jennie) Swisher (Switzer?) Children: Katie Ellen (5-17-1899-born in a covered wagon died 12-27-1970) Newhall, Calif. Source: Came from book, unpublished. About the book that you asked about: There is a note stuck in the front of the book that says, "This book tells you everything about Virginia, Katie and Jean's family and mine. Love, Delores." Delores is Delores Fay Gregg Harboldt Evans. "Jean's Girl". Her father was Ermon Fay Gregg (Mendota, Ill), Mother-Helen Virginia Edmundson (Clayton, Ill) who was Katie Cooper's grandaughter. The rest of the book is about the Harboldt family and the Gregg family which is Delores's family through her 2 husbands, which are not related at all to the background of Virginia Swisher. I don't believe that any of that is relevant to our (Eakins) family tree. Remember when you read the above information that I was quoting from the book, so when it says "I" it refers to Delores and not to me. Subj: Re: Eakin, Don/Caves Letter 2 Date: 3/2/02 8:03:26 AM Central Standard Time From: honson@willinet.net To: Travelback4u@aol.com, jerryeakins1@attbi.com, fob1@abingdon.net Sent from the Internet (Details) Hi again, I am answering this email separately from the other, so I could reply to these questions. The Book: The book is just a lot of xerox pages of copies of pictures of Delores' family, the Harboldt family. That is to say from her life forward, mostly, her marriages, her children. In it there is also some of the genealogy looking backward That is the part we are more interested in. This "book" is more of a folder of all these pages, I just call it a book. Dad gave it to me to keep. I don't think you want a copy of the whole thing, so I typed out (in the other email) the information that I thought pertained to Caves. In the book there is a hand written note, which is a little hard to decipher. It says, quote: 1st Virginia Ellen Swisher (Switzer) Caves 2nd Katie Ellen Cooper - Edmunson, Bever, Eggelstone 3rd Helen Virginia Edmundson, Gregg, Nelson, Homer 4th Delores Fay Gregg, Harboldt, Evans 5th Rhonda Ruth Harboldt, Druen, Letson 6th Erik Lynn Druen This page is just stuck in the middle of other pages and is giving the background of her Grandson/Granddaughter (?) Erik Lynn Druen. From all the information given in this and the other email to you, I am just sure that Virginia Ellen Swisher and Jeannie or sometimes spelled Jennie are the same person. So if you have the information of her parents and where they were born and buried, I would like to have that. Thanks. Hope this answers your questions alright. Sincerely, Nancy Honson Thomas William Rogers, born May 9, 1954, son of Cleta Irene (Caves) Rogers, who is the granddaughter of Virginia Ellen Swisher, of who also Delores Fay Gregg decends from. Cleta Irene (Caves) Rogers died on August 23, 2003 and my father, Donald Clarence Rogers followed her in death on November 28, 2005. It was my late mother's life time hope of finding living decendants, like Delores Fay Gregg, as having descended from Virginia Ellen (Swisher) Caves Cooper's last known daughter Katherine Ellen Cooper. I have a lot of family information to share and am hoping to contact living relatives.
