Gregg in Ireland, PA, OH

I have been checking some of the posted genealogies to Ancestry.com and am totally confused. I hope there is someone out there who really knows what is going on with this family.

Here are a couple of the many problems that I have found:

(1) Robert Gregg b. 1739 m. Margaret Jackman. He apparently died enroute to America in 1789. They had one son, Henry, who was born 1700 - which is 39 years BEFORE his father was born!!

(2) Margaret Gregg (daughter of the couple above) was b. 1818 (which would have been some years AFTER her father died!) She then married Thomas Jackman and had a daughter who was b. 1809 - again, the child born BEFORE the mother was born!!

These were only two different posters to this genealogy site; and is only the tip of the iceberg so far as huge errors relating to this family.

And - is there any evidence that this Gregg family was really from Carrick-on-Shannon in County Leitrim, Ireland?
