Christopher Wayne Greer, MD
BENTON, LA - Christopher (Chris) Wayne Greer, 44, beloved husband and father went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2009, on Toledo Bend Reservoir, doing what he enjoyed so much, fishing.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Bossier Faith Chapel.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at First Baptist Bossier Faith Chapel. Dr. Fred Lowery, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Bossier and Bro. Doug Badertscher will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Chris was born January 29, 1965 in Shreveport, LA. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1983, where he was valedictorian. He was also "Mr. Woodlawn High School" his senior year. In 1988, he graduated from Louisiana State University (with honors) Magna Cum Laude, and in 1992 from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, with a degree in medicine, he graduated sixth in his class. He also received Who's Who, National Honor Society, and was awarded the "Adrian F. Reed " award, an award in medical school to the senior who best demonstrated the qualities of a Scientist, Physician, Teacher and Friend. Chris went on and completed his residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. His greatest passion was the practice of medicine. He was a caring physician with God given talents.
He married the love of his life, Christie Craft, December 6, 1997. Chris loved fishing and hunting, but most of all spending time with his wife and daughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Waymond and Bernice Hatcher.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Christie Greer and daughter Morgan Greer; father, James Greer of Joaquin, TX and mother, Patsy Greer of Stonewall, LA. He is also survived by three brothers, Kevin Greer and wife Pam of Tyler, TX, Troy Greer and wife Trina of Pensacola, FL and Brandon Greer of Shreveport, LA ; father and mother-in-law, Sammie and Rena Craft, sister-in-law, Melissa Caldwell and husband Bobby, one niece and one nephew.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Patrick Slater, Mark Yawn, Mike Sepulvado, Greg Guest, Tony Grubbs and Joey Hooker. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick McAnn, Mike Craig, Robbie Gatti, Gray Kitchens, Bobby Slaughter, Jimmy Veulleman, Tyson Robertson and Jason Lofton.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Greg Founds, Dr. Luther, the E.R. Staff at the Sabine County Medical Center and to our church family at First Baptist Bossier.
Memorials may be made to the Chris Greer Memorial Fund at Citizen's National Bank.
