Some Descendants of John Greenwalt and Matilda Benedict
I just finished doing my son-in-law's tree (By "finished" I mean "going as far back as I could, then forward for all descendants until I decided finding BMD dates and places for a 4C2R wasn't really worth the effort") and thought I'd share some of my findings. Amplifications and corrections warmly welcomed.
Note 1, my genealogy program's report writer has a bug, so the source citations don't format properly. "John Smith1-8" should be "John Smith (1-8)" or "John Smith 1-8" with the "1-8" in superscript.
Note 2, I marked everyone born after 1913 "Living" even though some are not.
Note 3, the prose style is VERY mechanical.

First Generation
1.John Greenwalt1 was born between 1818 and 1838 in Pennsylvania.
See the note with daughter Ida K for some spelling variations of Greenwalt.
I gave him a birth estimate of 20 - 40 years before Ida.
I found a John Greenawalt in Franklin County, but he married Ann Stoler, not Matilda Benedict. Ida's death record may be wrong.
John Greenwalt and Matilda Benedict were married.Matilda Benedict1 was born between 1818 and 1838 in Pennsylvania.
Matilda may not be Ida's mother. See the note with Ida.John Greenwalt and Matilda Benedict had the following children:
+2 i. Ida Kathrine Greenwalt, born on 16 Feb 1858, Waynesboro, Franklin, Pennsylvania; married Abraham B Shetter, in 1880/81; died on 16 Feb 1939, Middletown, Butler, Ohio.
Second Generation
2.Ida Kathrine Greenwalt1-7 (John-1) was born on 16 Feb 1858 in Waynesboro, Franklin, Pennsylvania. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio. She appeared in the census in 1910 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio. She appeared in the census in 1920 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio. She appeared in the census in 1930 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio. She died on 16 Feb 1939 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio. She was buried in Middletown, Butler, Ohio - Woodside Cem.
Ida Katherine's name varies on her children's records:
Ida Greenwalt (Cora's 1905 marriage)
Ida K. Greenwalt (Percy Blaine's 1921 marriage)
Ida C. Greenwald (Helen Grace's 1921 marriage)
Ida K. Greenawalt (Juetta Mae's 1923 marriage)
Ida K. Greenwall (Percy Blaine's 1926 death)
Catherine Greenswalt (Majel's 1928 marriage)

Place of birth: Waynesboro, Pa
Death: Middletown, OH, 02/16/1939
Father: Greenawaly, John
Mother: Benedict, Matilda
Ida K's 1900 census entry says she was born Jan 1858, which is what her husband's entry says too. Her burial record says 16 Feb 1858. I'm using it, under the assumption the 1900 was a slip.
Her burial record says she was born in Waynesboro; there are towns named Waynesboro in both Franklin and Lancaster counties in Pennsylvania. Abraham, her husband, was born in Franklin County, so I'm going to use it until I can find out more.
Her death record:
Ida Catherine Shetter
Death: 16 Feb 1939, Middleton Twp., Wood [sic], Ohio
Residence: 1101 Columbia Ave., Middletown, Butler Co.
Occupation: Retired House Keeper
Birth: 05 Jan 1858, Waynesboro, Penn.
Cemetery: Woodside Cem.
Father: John Greenswalt, b. Waynesboro, Penn.
Mother: Matilda Benedict, b. Waynesboro, Penn.
This is the only Ida Green**** I can find in Frankling County, under any spelling, born 1853 - 1863:
1860, Quincy, Franklin, Pennsylvania

Greenawalt, Ann, 22, Penn

Greenawalt, Lilly, 10, dau, Penn, Penn, Maryl
Greenawalt, Rose, 8, dau, Penn, Penn, Maryl
Greenawalt, Maudy, 7, dau, Penn, Penn, Maryl
You'll note that John's wife is Ann, not Matilda. There is an 1856 marriage record in Franklin County for John Greenawalt and Ann Stoler which looks about right.
So, either
1) The death records are wrong. (Chances are Woodside copied the Ohio State death record, so there is really just one source.)
2) John Greenawalt had a fling with Matilda Benedict and Ann let him raise the child as theirs.
3) Ann isn't Ann Stoler; she is Matilda Ann Benedict.
4) None of the above.

Funeral Services for A. B. Shetter
A. B. Shetter, Middletown's first automobile dealer, Buick agent and respected citizen, died Friday night at 7:12 o'clock at his home, Broad Street and Columbia Avenue, Middletown. Death followed several months of ill health, which culminated two weeks ago with a fatal attck of apoplexy. He was in his sixty-seventh year.
The death that was learned with equal regret in business and friendly circles deprives the home of an excellent husband and father and brings grief to his his widow and following children. Mrs. Cora Sharit, Mrs. Florence Bennett, of Cincinnati, Mrs. Xueta [Juetta] McAdams of Bel****, Mrs. Helen Davis, Binghampton, NY, Mahel [Majel], Rutherford and Blaine.
Rev. B. I. George of the Broadway M. E. Church, where Mr. Shetter was a member for years, conducted the last rites over the generally esteemed man Monday afternon at 2:30 pm in the residence. Burial followed in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown.
Here is a 1906 puff biography:

A. B. Shetter
One of the most enterprising businessmen in Middletown is A. B. Shetter, implement and vehicle dealer. He has been here for fourteen years. He was born in Franklin [County], Pennsylvania in 1858 and went to Lanark, Illinois in 1880, where he followed farming. He came here in 1892, and from a modest beginning in the feed business has now reached the distinction the most extensive implement and vehicle dealer in the county.
He introduced the innovation of street fairs in Middletown, having given in all 10 annual exhibitions that attracted hundereds of strangers and dollars to the city.
He is now preparing for the addition of a garage to his other lines, having an exceptionally fine building and location for the enterprise.
Mr. Shetter is justly considered Middletown's best business hustler.Ida Kathrine Greenwalt and Abraham B Shetter had the following children:
+3 i. Cora Maud Shetter, born in Aug 1884, Lanark, Carroll, Illinois; married Harry Walter Sharit, on 30 Mar 1905, Montgomery County, Ohio; died in Nov 1959.
4 ii. Sylvester Shetter2,3,14 was born in Nov 1886 in Lanark, Carroll, Illinois. He appeared in the census in 1900 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He appeared in the census in 1910 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He died on 24 Dec 1914 in Hamilton, Butler, Ohio.He was buried in Middletown, Butler, Ohio - Woodside Cem.
Abraham Shetter's puff biography in the 1906 "Middletown in Black and White" says he started out in Lanark. Cora Maud Shetter says she was born in Lanark on her son Heber Sharit's birth record. I'm assuming all the children b. Illinois on the census were born in Lanark.
There are three articles in the Butler County Democrat (Hamilton, Ohio) about Sylvester's demise.
17 Dec 1914, p. 7
Long story of a gas explosion at the Hupmobile Agency conducted by Sylvester Shetter, who is in critical condition with burns over most of his body.

He died this afternoon, leaving a widow.

Harry and his family use one "R" and two, an "S" at the end and not. Here's his birth record:
Name: Harry W. Sharrit

Paul is divorced, Heber is single, so chances are Thelma is Paul's. Thelma's death record says her mother was McDaniel and her husband was a Mr. Howell.

13 ii. Heber Blaine Sharit18-20,25,26 was born on 20 Mar 1907 in Miamisburg, Montgomery, Ohio.He appeared in the census in 1910 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He appeared in the census in 1920 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He appeared in the census in 1930 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He died on 9 Feb 1994 in Montgomery, Hamilton, Ohio.
Heber has four entries on Ohio Births and Christenings Index, 1800-1962. Two say he was born 20 Mar 1907 in Miamisburg, Montgomery, Ohio, two say he was born 20 Mar 1908 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.
One possible explanation: Cora and Harry went to his family in Miamisburg, 14 miles away, for the birth, then had him christened exactly a year later in Middletown.
The best of the four gives us all three middle names and Cora's hometown:
Name: Heber Blaine Sharit
Birth: 20 Mar 1907, Miamisburg, Montgomery, Ohio
Father: Harry Walter Sharit, age 22, b. Miamisburg, Ohio
Mother: Cora Maud Shetter, age 22, b. Lenark, Illinois

See the note on brother Sylvester for the birthplace.
Father Abraham Shetter's obituarymentions Florence Bennett of Cincinatti. With that much of a clue I found her in section 19, Lot 524, space 2 in the Woodside Cemetery. Walter is in space 1.
Her birth and death dates are blank. This is all it shows:

Section 19, Lot 524, Space 2
Age: 88 (1888)
Place of birth: Ohio [whoops - Illinois]

This SSDI entry matches Florence's 1900 census entry and the service date from the cemetery record, but Bennett is an awfully common surname, and Louisiana is a long way from Ohio.

Percy Blaine Shetter and Helen Marie Moon were married on 20 Dec 1921 in Butler County, Ohio.Helen Marie Moon30,31 was born in 1900 in Seven Mile, Butler, Ohio.
Given she was only 26 when widowed, Helen probably remarried, but I can't find a record of it, nor of her death.

Mrs. Edgar Edwards Ended Life By Shooting
Mrs. Ma*el Edwards, wife of Edgar Edwards, well-known paper-hanger, ended her life on the Lebanon Canal road, east of Middletown Wednesday evening. Mrs. Edwards had been in poor health for some time and to this is attributed her act.
Yesterday Mr.Edwards had seveal neighbors aid him in butchering. When the men had finished their word and entered the home shortly after five o'clock, they found the table set for supper, but Mrs. Edwrds was not to be found. When search was made, her body was found lying in an upstairs hallway, where she had shot herself through the right temple. She had put the two children, one aged four months, the other aged two years, to bed and had then gone into the hallway where she ended her life.
Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of A. B. Shetter, well-known Middletown businessman. She was also a sister of Sylvester Shetter, who was killed in an explosion in Hamilton several years ago.
Majel Shetter and John Edgar Edwards were married on 10 May 1928 in Butler County, Ohio.John Edgar Edwards60,61,64-68 was born in 1903/4 in South Charleston, Clark, Ohio.He appeared in the census in 1930 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He appeared in the census in 1940 in Lemon Twp (Middletown), Butler, Ohio.He died on 8 Jun 1985 in Middletown, Butler, Ohio.He was buried in Butler County, Ohio - North Monroe Cem.

1930, Middletown, Butler, Ohio
Edwards, John E, head, 26, Ohio, Va, Ohio
Edwards, Majel, wife, 25, Ohio, Penn, Penn
He is a paper hanger.
He married Margaret Emily Billet sometime after Majel killed herself in 1933.
1940, Lemon Twp (Middletown), Butler, Ohio
J Edgar Edwards, 37, head
Margaret Edwards, 36, wife
Donald Edwards, 6, son
Thelma Edwards, 3, dau
Caroline Edwards, 1, dau
Virginia Swartz, 7, stepdaughter
If the newspaper account of Majel's death is right, they had two children when she killed herself, and both of them died before 1940. So, these are all J Edgar's and Margaret's, and Donald there was born in 1934, so he married Margaret in 1933 or 1934.
He lived to be 81:
