I remember seeing a photograph of a then-deceased relative, who was an engine-driver, beside his locomotive. The photograph would have been taken in the 1850s or 60s, judging by the style of the loco. The man was a Greening (I don't know his first name). he was working for the Great Western Railway in South Wales. The GWR had a works in Birmingam. My mother is a Greening, and the engine-driver was one of her relatives (grandfather or great uncle, or something - I forget). I don't know wehther this is the man you are looking for. I can see if I can get more information. My mother is still alive - she might remember his name. Daniel is a family name.
