Hi Jim,
Thanks for your quick reply! Nice to meet you, cousin.Let me share a bit: Your list of children of David John Meldrum and Anastasia Schultz is actually as follows:
Donald(becomes Fr. James Meldrum, Carmelite Priest, missionary to Philippines in 40's & 50's, recently deceased)
Kenneth, lives in Anchorville, MI, recent stroke.
Bernadine, was a cousin, raised as a daughter, deceased.
Mary Jane, lives in Florida, vacations occasionally in MI
David James,("junior")MY FATHER, lives in Arizona, returns yearly to MI and is there this week.
Robert,lives in MI
Jack, lives in MI
I haven't had a chance to run through any Greenia stories with my dad or sister, Stacey, who has been our family's genealogist.I remember my grandfather and family talking about them perhaps we visited with them.As far as I remember the pronounciation was "Greenie".
I'm called by my middle name, Linus, because my dad wanted to pass along the family name of David but avoid the "junior" tag that he got.I was born 1952. I'm an artist/crafter and live in Pennsylvania with my wife, Dianne and 3 young kids.My son, age 4, is David Henry Meldrum. He, too, is called by his middle name.He is the 7th David in a direct line from David Meldrum b.1800 in Detroit. That David was the son of George Meldrum and the grandfather of the David who married Mary Greenia.George Meldrum was the 1st Meldrum we have record of in America. We have a good bit of information about him. He was a prominent official in Detroit before during and after the Revolutionary War.
If you don't mind sharing some of your info on the Greenia's I'd be grateful. When I found that the first four generations of Meldrum men chose Frenchwomen for wives, I realized that I'm alot more French than I thought.I'm also looking for relatives in the line of the "1st" David's wife, Julia Saucier. The Saucier genealogy site has over 600 postings.
Nice to meet you, if you want to email off this forum you can reach me at [email protected]
Best wishes,
Linus
