Dear John,
I have recently returned from visiting Somerset, and the various Greenham estates, and I would like to confirm your statement that Spanish Prisoners were held there and were put to work in the furniture manufacturing business. Whether they married into the Greenham/Grinham line, or simply adopted the name I am not able to verify. my e-mail address is My ancestors are on 2 sides. one being Thomas Lewis Grinham born in Bristol, and the other from the Trieste connection John and Elizabeth Ada Greenham.

regards Valerie
