Hi Peter- thank you for your reply. My 3 X great grandmother Mary Sarah Greenhalgh was not christened until 1826 either; not sure what the reason would be. She was born in 1824.

I didn't know about James Holsworth Greenhalgh's marriage in 1841, would it be online at Ancestry.com? How can I find out who he married? I wonder if he had children from his first marriage and what happened to his first wife. The people in France don't seem to know about a first marriage.

I see that William Ennever was also the founder of the Pelman Institute and Pelmanism, not sure what that is but I can look it up.

I am grateful for your help, always looking for any small clue that will tell me who James Greenhalgh senior born in 1785 was.
