Yes James was a mechanic and worked in Tottingham in the cotton mills but he claims his mother was Maria nee Barnes on his DC and on the IGI site there is a Maria Barnes who was c: 8 Jan 1804 Manchester but I cannot find a marriage for her to a Greenhalgh either a James or a John from Elton Bury, so I cannot confirm the fact that this was his mother. Sometimes Maria could get confused with Mary over the years. No we do not have any Glossops that show up so far but I cannot get very far back on the Uk side I am hoping I may get a lead of somekind so I can pay for a little bit of research. Thanks for the reply

Sue
