JAMES ARTHUR GREENHALGH
James Arthur Greenhalgh, son of Arthur Vene and Ethel Jane (Beers) Greenhalgh, was born in Greene County, Iowa on January 18, 1937. He departed from this life on June 6, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Hospital at the age of 70 years 4 months and 19 days.
James lived in Decatur County most of his life. He was a man of many talents. He helped work and run the family farm in his younger years; joined the Army, only to have him called back home in two years due to a family illness. He worked road construction; owned and operated many small businesses which included a mechanic shop, a tire shop, a lawn mower shop, a gas station, a grocery store, and was a flea market vendor.
James' hobbies included putting around town on his golf cart or scooter, spending time at the Dinky Diner, tinkering on lawn mowers and working in his garden with wife Glenda.
James was united marriage to Glenda Kay Junkeson on June 6, 1958. To this union, three precious sons were born: Danny Eugene, Ronny Dale, and Kenneth Arthur.
James was proceeded in death by his mother, Ethel Greenhalgh in 1961; his father, Arthur Greenhalgh in 1971; his parents-in-law, Bernard Dunkeson in 1997 and Mildred Dunkeson, also in 1997.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Glenda of Decatur, Iowa; sons: Danny Greenhalgh and friend Stephanie Neiman of Bettendorf, IA, Ronny Greenhalgh and wife Rebecca of Decatur, Kenneth Greenhalgh and friend Chandra Partridge of Springfield, MO; Nicole Greenhalgh of Decatur, six grandchildren: Angie Greenhalgh of Osceola, Erin Talley and husband Keith of Leon, Dylan Greenhalgh of Bettendorf, Shondell Greenhalgh and friend David Cowling of Leon, Briana Greenhalgh of Decatur, Shelby Greenhalgh of Decatur; six great-grandchildren: Endora and Keltin Fox of Osceola, Cheyenne and Brone Talley of Leon, Teyona and Bladden Greenhalgh of Leon; brother-in-law, Billie Gene Dunkeson and wife Keleta of Mt. Ayr; as well as a host of devoted relatives and close friends.
