Hi Fredric,

I was quite interested in your response about Ruth "Greenberry" being born "Clark" not "Greenberry". You noted that Ruth Clark married Benjamin Williams, and the original poster indicated that the same "Ruth" later married Joseph Samuels. The Samuels family seemed to believe that Ruth was surnamed "Greenberry" for the family continued the "Greenberry" name for several generations. My great grandfather's brother was named "Hiram Greenberry Samuels" when born about 1838 in/near Augusta County, VA (Reference 1850 and 1860 Census). Others were give the "Greenberry" name much earlier. In fact, Ruth and Joseph Samuels had a son who was given the middle name "Greenberry". It just doesn't seem likely to me that Joseph and Ruth (Clark) Samuels would have named their child "Greenberry" if there was no relationship to the Greenberry family. Any thoughts you have about this will be much appreciated.
