Hi Steve,
If you do not have the documentation on your uncle's research, you may want to check Family History Library microfilm 1,450,460, of the Aslacky Parish Register. The pages are not numbered, but under burials for the year 1656 is:
"John, sonn to John Grenburey was Buried July 11"
As such, I would have to believe that your John at Irnham who married Jane is not the son of John of Aslackby, but the son of Nicholas of Irnham, named in his 1673 will that is on my page.
