HENRY GREEN to HENRY STONE-Deed of land in Halifax, Virginia
Henry Stone, son of William & Elizabeth Stone born on 13 Sept. 1726 per the North Farnham Parish Register book, page 176.
I have read that he married a Frances Read/Reed, but have yet to locate a marriage record. I have the following deed in Halifax County, Virginia in the records of my ancestor Traverse/Travis Tune in connection with Henry Stone:
16 January 1755
Halifax County Virginia Plea Book 1 1752-1755 transcribed by Marian Dodson Chiarito
P.120: At a Court held 16 January 1755 - Deed of land from HENRY GREEN to HENRY STONE was proved by TRAVIS TUNE a witness.
I have researched my Tune family since 1999 & a few years back became aware of a mistake made, by someone unknown, as to the wife of my Travis Tune. I discovered a bible record, along with church records & Rev. War Claims, that my Travis, 1732-1827, of Halifax, Virginia was married to a woman named Frances.
I'm going over all his records...deeds, marriages of his children, etc. in an effort to identify my "elusive Frances", wife of Travis Tune. Travis made his will in Halifax in 1818 in which he named all 12 children, but there was no mention of a wife at all, so I have always thought she died prior to the date of his will.
I began looking at the early deeds, decided to look at the Stone family, in particular this Henry Stone, as Travis was the only witness to the deed between Henry Stone & Henry Green, whom I suspect may have been the b-i-l of Henry Stone.
I am hoping someone can tell me if this Henry Stone did marry a Frances Read/Reed & if they had children, when/where Henry & Frances lived & died, etc., along with records or references to records that substantiate this couple.
Any help is most appreciated,
Gloria
