In Reply to: Green Family Ancestry in Litchfield Co. Connecticut- Why immigrate to rural CT? by Calvert Green of 20242

We need to identify a timeline for your family. Ancestry says that James GREEN and Margaret QUINN had a son Lawrence GREEN, b. ca. 1835/8. Lawrence m. ca. 1863, Ellen O'DONNELL (Apr. 183[4/9?], Ireland - 29 Dec. 1908, W. Torrington, CT, dau/o Thomas O'DONNELL & Catherine WELCH).

Ellen's obituary is on Ancestry, & it says she was survived by sons John, James, & Lawrence, & three daughters Nellie FAY [Ellen, b. 1864], Kate [Catherine] ROURKE, & [Margaret] Mrs. Charles WENTWORTH. Funeral was at St. Francis Catholic Church. / In 1900, Ellen was with her unmarried son William (Mar. 1875 - 1902). She had immigrated in 1854.

Censuses of 1870 & 1880 don't agree on the ages. In 1870 there were Lawrence & Ellen GREEN, 35 & 36, both born in Ireland, with ch. Ellen, 6; John, 4; James, 1; & Lawrence, 3 months, all b. CT. However, in 1880, Lawrence GREEN was 53, he & parents were b. Connecticut. Ellen, 52, & parents were b. Ireland.

Did Lawrence, b. 1870 become Calvert Lawrence GREEN?

In 1900, Waterbury, New Haven, CT, Calvert GREEN, b. Apr 1870, was born in New York, as were his parents. Wf. Maria, b. Apr. 69, NY, was daughter of parents b. Ireland. They had been married 6 years, & son Frank was born Mar. 1896.

In 1910, Waterbury, New Haven, CT, Calvert GREEN, 41; Maria, 41, Frank, 14; Jane, 7; Lawrence, 5; Lily, 3, & Alice 18 months.

In 1920, Waterbury, New Haven, CT, Calbert, 53, CT CT NY; Maria, 51; Frank, 23; Lily, 12; Calbert, 15; Alice, 10; Helen, 7.

Waterbury, 1940, GREEN, Lawrence, 71, b. NY, wid., Calvert, 35; Lillian, 33; Alice, 31; Mary Alice, 8.

Are these all of the same family?
