Susan, thank you very much for your response. I happened upon it by chance this morning. For some reason I didn't get the usual email notification that a "follow up" had been posted.
Thank you for the additional informaton on the Lindseys. I am sure I will have more questions once I have reviewed it!
With regard to the Curtis mystery. I am aware that James P. Green had a brother Curtis (their mother said to have been Sarah Lindsey Green) and a nephew Curtis. Neither of these men fit the 1821 birthdate or the profile of the Curtis who married Rebecca Moore in Chattooga County in 1842. The fact that that Curtis and Rebecca lived within shouting distance of James P. and Elizabeth makes me almost certain Curtis is a son of James P.
I think you are right that documenting these relationships is a challenge. I have had some luck in documenting children of Curtis and Rebecca through the "poor school" records of Floyd County, GA (they lived on the Floyd/Chattooga county line).
One other question before I go back to review your information on Lindseys....do you have census records for James Green and brothers for 1840 and earlier. I've been through my files and have not yet found anything. The 1830 census would tell us for sure if I am correct about James and Elizabeth having older children whose names have not been proven.
Again, thanks for sharing. Let me know if you have questions about any of this! Steve Strickland
