Update on Richard Green of Surry NC who was married to Charity Jacks:
Richard Green was NOT born in NC.He was born abt 1774 in Maryland (likely Somerset County or Dorchester County).I do not yet know who his father was but I am 99% sure his mother was named Susanna. The widow Susanna Green married James Minish sometime before 1787 in Maryland. In the Fall of 1795, James Minish and family migrated to Surry, NC.Richard Green was actually married prior to coming to North Carolina, making Charity Jacks his second wife.I do not know who his first wife was but they apparently had 2 daughters. One which I believe to be Mary Polly Green born in the late 1790s.Mary Polly Green married George Mullis.Richard Green's first wife died before 1804 when he married Charity Jacks.Richard and Charity had 2 sons in addition to Richard's 2 daughters. One son was named James Green (my 3rd great-grandfather).James Green married Mary Polly Jacks (his 1st cousin).I suspect Richard and Charity's other son may have been a John Green who married Nancy Shores but not 100% sure about that.Back to James Minish and Susanna.Susanna (unknown maiden name) died in Surry NC in 1826.In 1827, James re-married to Elisabeth Salmons. They had at least 2 daughters.I believe James Minish died in 1835 in Surry NC.Anyone who is researching any of these folks is welcome to contact me.I would love to share information with you!
