Wow, I've been trying to find more information on my husband's ancestor Willis Green, b. 1797.I've uncovered the will reference the indicates his father was Thomas, mother Ann, and mentions the siblings. But I have not been able to discover beyond that.
"Recorded in _Early Records of Georgia, Volume I, Wilkes County_ Page 116--Green, James. To sister Elizabeth Green money to buy a slave. To mother Ann Green $100.00 and my trunk. To John, Willis, Thomas, Eliza, Alex., and Felix Green $300.00 to be equally divided among them. To father Thomas Green a set of rasors (sic), he to be sole Excr. Signed Feb. 9, 1818. Probabted July 6, 1818. David Walser, Charles Strozer, Test."
Also, From Our Virginia Cousins, p. 177Dr. WILLIS GREEN, of Chambers Co., Alabama, or Troup Co., Ga., married ELIZABETH ANDREWS, daughter of No. 182, p. 93.Children: --1240, GEN. ALEXANDER A. GREEN, C.S.A., b. about 1840. 1241, DR. JOSEPH, of Rockmont, Polk Co., Ga., soldier, C.S.A. 1242, EZEKIEL, soldier, C.S.A., killed in battle. 1232, ANNA. 1233, EMILY, 1245, SARAH. 1246, a daughter, m. Mr. Holtzclaw, of Salem, Ala.Dr. Willis Green, was undoubtedly a great-great grandson of Captain William Green, of the body-guard of King William III, who married Eleanor, sister of Sir William Duff.Their son, Robert Green, born about 1695, came to Virginia about 1712, and settled in Culpeper Co. Accounts of this family, which is also connected with the Goods in the Maynard branch, occur in Slaughter’s St. Mark’s Parish, and in Paxton’s Marshall Genealogy, p. 121.
I'd love some guidance about further searches.
