Joseph Green of Tryon NC
I am interested in information about Joseph Green of Tryon County, NC.I am descended from Joseph through his daughter Anne Green, wife of Robert McAfee.
Although a number of posts indicate Joseph originated in Rhode Island and was the son of John Green and Mary Increase Allen, most evidence indicates that Joseph Green, born 1726 died 1822, son of John Green and Mary Increase Allen, settled in Stephentown (now Berlin), Rensselaer Co., N. Y., in 1769, was the third eastern settler in the town; was a Quaker and a trusted friend of Gen. Stephen VanRensselaer, with whom he always stayed when he went to Albany. He m. 24 Oct. 1751, Phoebe Langford, b. 26 Apr. 1734, dau. of John and Barbara (Bice) Langford of E. Greenwich.
Since Joseph Green of Tryon was in the NC area as early as 1752, was married to Mary McInitire by the time by his service in the Coburn militia about 1755, and died in NC about 1772, he clearly can't be the same man as above.
I have found nothing of substance to connect him to the Rhode Island Green family.I am looking for good documentation on Joseph that would connect him back to Rhode Island (or any other Green family)...primary sources like wills, deeds, legal transactions, etc.
Is anyone aware of any concrete information? Thanks for the help.
