Robert Green, Abbeville County, South Carolina about 1800
I am looking for information regarding one Robert Green who appears on the 1800 census of Abbeville County, South Carolina with two small daughters, under the age of ten.Robert was born between 1766-1775 in England.Married at the time of the 1800 census to Nancy Wood(s).Enumerated on the same page are the families of Zedekiah Woods and Jacob Lollar.Robert Green names his second son Zedekiah. Two of Robert Green's children marry Lollar siblings, from a different, but related, branch of this family.
The Robert Green family leaves South Carolin shortly after the 1800 census, as he is in Cumberland County, Kentucky by 1805. He may have resided briefly somewhere in North Carolina. His first wife dies, he remarries to an Elizabeth Farmer, daughter of Benjamin Farmer. They produce a whole bunch of kids, Robert dies, and Elizabeth remarries and has more.I won't go into their names in this message, as I am seeking information specific to Robert Green and his time in South CArolina and before.
Specific questions:
Any clues as to who may be the parents or siblings of this particular Robert Green (I know, there are way too many Robert Greens!).
What about siblings for Robert Green?I have identified only one possibility, again after he located in Cumberland County, Kentucky. This is a Jane Green.
One clue may be that Robert Green and his second wife, Elizabeth Farner, named their second son Robert Robinson (or Robeson) Green--this is my direct line. This entire family likes to use surnames for middle names, often those of the mother or other relatives, but also surnames of those who have married into the family, such as a son-in-law.We have not determined where the Robinson came from.
Another thought is that Robert and his first wife, Nancy Woods, named their two sons, in order, John and Zedekiah. The Zedekiah, I could assume, is from her family, possibly even her father's name.It would then stand to reason that John could possibly be Robert's father's name.Robert and his second wife, Elizabeth Farmer, name their first son for her father, Benjamin, and their second son for him, Robert.
The naming pattern is somewhat speculative, but may give clues as to ancestors and siblings of the elder Robert.
I would also like to find out when Robert Green appeared in Abbeville County, and from where--another US location, or directly from overseas?
I realize this is a tall order, but any leads would be greatly appreciated.
