Abilene Reporter-News Abilene, Texas October 26, 1965 WILLIAM EDGAR “ED” GREEN Roby: Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday for WILLIAM EDGAR “ED” GREEN, 86. Rev. NORRIS TAYLOR, pastor, will officiate in the First Baptist Church. The pioneer Roby merchant died Monday in Callan Hospital at Rotan. He had been a patient there only a few hours. The body will lie in state at the Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan Tuesday and in the church form 2 p.m. Wednesday until service time. Burial will be in Roby Cemetery. Born Nov. 2, 1878 in Marshall, Mr. GREEN came to Roby in 1896 from Comanche County. He married MARY FRANCES O’BRIANT in 1897; she died April 18, 1911. He married MARY ELLA LE NORE in 1914; she died Dec. 11, 1955. Mr. Green was associated with his father, J. B. GREEN, in a general store and then later a partner in GREEN & PARKER Dry Goods until his retirement some years ago. He was a Baptist. Survivors are three sons, JAMES of Hobbs, New Mexico, DENNIS E. of Phoenix, Arizona and ALTON of Roby; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. C. M. GREEN of San Angelo; one brother C. M. of Abilene; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son. Lt. C. M. GREEN, who died during World War II. Notify Administrator about this message?
