In my line I have a William Green born c1756 who married Ann / Anne McCleskey in the 96th District, SC 1781-82.William and Ann's oldest son was John Green born 1/5/1783.Younger children were in order:Rhoda Ann, Robert, William H, Sarah "Sally" Ann, James M, Samuel, and Margaret.William appears in the 1790 and 1800 Pendleton Dist, SC censuses. He died c Feb 1801 in Pendleton Dist and left a will.
In the will he names only wife Ann and son John but mentions younger children.Shortly before his death he had purchased an island in the Savannah River in Elbert Co, GA. Perhaps he was going into the ferry business?
I have no information on John but the other children moved with their mother to Henry Co, GA.What intrigues me is that McCleskey's of Abbeville were early settlers of Jackson and Hall Counties, GA.John Green, son of William and Ann might very well have moved there with them.
A plat map of Colonial land grants in Abbeville shows 2 Greens - George and Benjamin. You can find the map at -http://homepage.mac.com/bfthompson/PhotoAlbum21.htmlhttp://homepage.mac.com/bfthompson/PhotoAlbum21.html
The Greens are on the outer lefthand edge about 3/4's of the way down the map.
Benjamin was a Revolutionary War soldier and collected a pension.I'm going to have to see what his pension file has to say.Maybe it will give me some clues about my William.
