You mention the name Pearl who means in greek Margaritari. Perhaps her name was Margret?
I read a book about greek refugees near Istanbul, Turkey, telling about a woman with name Golden Wire. Then I found that her real name was Chrissi Syrmas (her name was translated in english).

The city of Korinthos (between Patras and Athens) is well known. But often people said that they was from a big well known city, but really they came from a little village near this.
