I agree with you to some extent that the Greeks of today are not a homogenous group as they think they are. There are parts of modern day Greece that were not stirred by national passions as say the Athenians and the Spartans were during the 1821 revolution. That said, this fact doesn't necessarily make them genetically unsimilar. But we must take into account the history of each section of Greece. I'm not sure how far back you are reaching to come to the conclusion that 40% of Greeks are Albanian. Albanians themselves are probably not Albanian.. but just as diverse as Greeks themselves. You are right 1770 may be late in the game but it is fair to say that Corfu had more than it's share of Italo-latin families that integrated over Ottoman ones and that Syros had more French families than Albanian ones. Taking the country now as a whole, 10 million people that it is, I still don't see how you get 40% Albanian.
As for the families I was referring to on my own direct ancestry, Casanova was from Genoa and Scaramanga was from Byzantium. There are hundreds if not thousands of such unique surnames on Chios alone. The entire Aegean though under Turkish domination until late in the game did not generally intermarry with Muslims and they shunned the nationalist fervor of 1821. for the most part, getting caught up and taking the brunt of the blame.

Just my 2 cents.
