Birth/Marriage Certs -- Has anyone succeeded?

I see a lot of people posting and asking how to obtain vital records certificates from Greece. The answer is one we probably all know well now -- you need to contact the municipality, or perhaps if you're lucky, prefecture, of the village where your ancestor came from directly.

However, has anyone actually suceeded in this method? I think, naturally, the biggest issue is the lanuage barrier.

I'm just wondering, though, if someone has succeeded in Greek genealogy or obtaining vital/military records, can you please share the methods you used? I think it would benefit a lot of people that are stumped.

Regards,

Mike
